The contest organized by AREA and World Refrigeration Day (WRD) dedicated to the female professionals in the HVAC/R sector has now entered the final phase: in 2023 it was Lèana Khaled Payan from France who emerged victorious, and was awarded at the Polytechnic University of Milan during the 20th European Conference of the Centro Studi Galileo with the United Nations.
This year, there are eight participants in the contest, open for the first time not only to those who work in the field as technicians but also to those involved in engineering design.
The participants are:

- Tie Kieuw Lee – Netherlands
- Chloe Jennings – United Kingdom
- Sharon Byrne – Ireland
- Carmen Rodriguez Ortiz – Ireland
- Zdenka Bukovinová – Slovakia
- Joanne Mitchell – United Kingdom
The winner will be chosen in the coming weeks, and will be awarded during the Annual General Assembly of AREA, which will take place from May 23 to 24 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, with an invitation to the event (dinner and accommodation provided by members of AREA, ATF and BESA) and with a €1,000 prize awarded by World Refrigeration Day.
