Centro Studi Galileo, an event in Vietnam on November 20 to promote the food cold chain

During the 9th edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, an annual event organized and coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), Casa Italia in Hanoi will host the workshop “The Cold Chain: from Italy to Vietnam – Developing the Cold Chain in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.” This event aims to promote Italian gastronomic culture and agri-food products worldwide, highlighting the importance of the cold chain in preserving the quality and freshness of food.

Italy is a global leader in the cold chain sector and ensures food quality and safety throughout the supply chain by making constant investments in research and development. This expertise can serve as a benchmark for Vietnam, which has ambitious goals for sustainable and resilient growth to become a high-income country by 2045. However, Vietnam must overcome significant challenges to develop an efficient and sustainable cold chain system: currently, it is estimated that 50% of local agricultural products are lost due to the lack of adequate storage, refrigeration, and transportation infrastructure.

This workshop will be a unique opportunity to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and potential collaborations, where Italy can offer its expertise and advanced technologies for the development of a more efficient and eco-sustainable cold chain.
