WIGAM took part in the recent training activities carried out in Burkina Faso, donated as part of the group of intent supporting the development of technical skills in the refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump sector. The initiative forms part of a broader effort to strengthen local capacity, improve professional competence and support the safe maintenance and repair of HVACR systems.
A specific focus was placed on practical training and on the correct use of technical equipment. According to Madi Sakandé, WIGAM launched the online training session in the afternoon, giving participants the opportunity to become familiar with the use of different WIGAM tools and instruments. In total, 42 young men and women took part in the session, confirming the strong interest in acquiring practical and immediately applicable skills.
The activity also involved military personnel, who were equipped and trained to learn how to service and repair HVACR systems. This aspect is particularly significant, as refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment requires qualified operators capable of working safely, correctly diagnosing faults and carrying out maintenance procedures in line with good technical practice.
The participation of WIGAM contributed to giving the training a strong operational dimension. Equipment, practical demonstrations and technical guidance are essential elements in ensuring that training is not limited to theory, but becomes a concrete tool for professional growth and improved field performance.
The initiative is connected to the wider process of professionalisation of refrigeration and air-conditioning trades in Burkina Faso, where recent activities have focused on strengthening training centres, evaluating equipment and infrastructure, and laying the foundations for a national certification system adapted to local needs.
Centro Studi Galileo contributes to the initiative as coordinator of the Group of Intent, working to bring together technical expertise, equipment support and training capacity for the benefit of local technicians and institutions.
