Deadline Extended: Women in Cooling Video Competition Now Open Until 18 May!

AREA and World Refrigeration Day (WRD) have officially extended the deadline for the third edition of the Women in Cooling Video Competition. Participants now have until 18 May 2025 to submit their entries for this initiative that celebrates and rewards the most outstanding female professionals in the refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump (RACHP) sector across Europe.

Organized by AREA in collaboration with World Refrigeration Day, the competition offers a unique platform to showcase the achievements of women in the industry, highlighting excellence in both technical expertise and innovative design. Don’t miss the chance to take part in this growing initiative and share your story with the global HVACR community!

About the competition

The competition is open to women associated with organizations that are members of AREA or employed by companies represented by these associations. Participants are invited to create a video, with a maximum length of 10 minutes, documenting their proficiency one of the key technical aspects of the RACHP sector:

  • Category A – Mastery of best RACHP practices: the videos must demonstrate operational skills such as installation, commissioning, refrigerant recovery, or fault repair.
  • Category B – Excellence in RACHP Design: in the style of “A Day in the Life”, the videos should tell the story of the experience of designing RACHP systems, from the conception to the practical realization in the field.

The new Deadline

Now, candidates will be able to submit videos until May 18, 2025at midnight: it must be posted privately on the Facebook page of AREA: “AREA” or sent via email to info@area-eur.be.

Evaluation Criteria and Jury

The videos will be evaluated based on the quality of the explanations, the appropriate use of technical tools and equipment, and adherence to safety regulations in the management of refrigerants. The evaluation committee is comprised of the secretariat of World Refrigeration Day, the Board of Directors of AREA Skills Task Force, along with representatives for the initiative INWIC (International Women in Cooling).

Awards and Awards Ceremony

The awards for each category are going to be:

  • 1st place: €1,000 + trophy
  • 2nd place: €500 + trophy
  • 3rd place: trophy

The two winners of the first prize will be hosted at the 21st European Conference organized by UNEP-IIR-AREA-CSG, scheduled to take place in Milan on June 12 and 13, 2025. AREA, through ATF, will cover the travel and accommodation expenses for the event.
