Success for the 39th ECA Online Meeting on Multinational Companies and Sustainable Cooling Technologies

On 14 May 2025, the 39th ECA international virtual meeting took place, co-organised by UNEP OzonAction and Centro Studi Galileo, focusing on the crucial role of multinational companies in advancing the adoption of alternative refrigeration technologies.

The event, held in the framework of the Montreal Protocol Network for Europe and Central Asia (ECA network), brought together national ozone officers, refrigeration experts, manufacturers, implementing agencies and regional partners. Simultaneous English-Russian interpretation was provided to facilitate broad engagement.

During the opening remarks, Marco Buoni, Director of Centro Studi Galileo and International Affairs Delegate for ATF and AREA, highlighted the importance of coordinated action between industry and institutions. He reaffirmed CSG’s ongoing commitment to training and international cooperation alongside UNEP.

Among the most appreciated interventions was that of Gleb, representing Coca-Cola HBC Belarus, who shared the company’s strategies for sustainable refrigeration in commercial operations. His contribution sparked great interest and encouraged discussion around public-private partnerships for climate action.

Other key presentations included:

  • Andrea Voigt, VP Global Public Affairs & Sustainability at Danfoss, on corporate leadership in deploying green technologies.
  • Marino Bassi of Nidec GA – Embraco, who illustrated how their systems enable emissions reduction globally.
  • Francesco Mastrapasqua of Epta S.p.A., presenting the global role of multinationals in enabling the green transition.

The audience showed strong interest in exploring partnerships with our industry collaborators. The interactive Q&A sessions and the high level of participation confirmed the event’s success.
