AREA, ATF and Centro Studi Galileo meet UNEP and IIR in Paris to prepare the new International Special Issue

On Friday, 12 June, two working meetings were held in Paris to discuss the preparation of the new edition of the International Special Issue of Industria & Formazione, the international publication promoted by Centro Studi Galileo in cooperation with UNEP – United Nations Environment Programme, the IIR – International Institute of Refrigeration, and AREA.

The meetings were attended, on behalf of Centro Studi Galileo and ATF, by Marco Buoni, Silvia Romanò and Luisa Girolami. Jim Curlin, Acting Head of OzonAction Law Division, and Sonja Wagner, Programme Management Officer, took part on behalf of UNEP OzonAction, while Yosr Allouche, Director General of the International Institute of Refrigeration, represented the IIR. The meetings, held separately on the same day with UNEP and the IIR, marked a key step in the technical and editorial development of the publication.

The work focused in particular on the review of the abstracts submitted by the authors, with the aim of defining the article sequence, assessing possible feedback to be provided to contributors, and outlining the overall structure of the issue. As in previous editions, the International Special Issue confirms its strongly technical and institutional profile, based on contributions from experts representing international organisations, universities, associations and research institutes.

This new edition will also coincide with two significant anniversaries for the sector: the 20th anniversary of the International Special Issue and the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol. These two milestones further strengthen the value of the publication as a tool for technical insight and international dialogue on the transition of the HVAC/R sector towards more sustainable solutions.

During the meetings, the partners also discussed joint initiatives related to the presentation of the publication and to the strengthening of cooperation between Centro Studi Galileo, UNEP and the IIR. Among the events mentioned were the OEWG Week in Bangkok, the MOP in Kigali and the activities planned during Chillventa, where dedicated side events may be organised to present the International Special Issue and illustrate the progress of the cooperation among the organisations involved.
