Centro Studi Galileo and ATF: three intense days of activities at Chillventa 2024

Chillventa 2024, held in Nuremberg from October 8 to 10, once again featured Centro Studi Galileo (CSG) and the Association of Italian Refrigeration Technicians (ATF) as key players. They carried out a series of significant activities, further strengthening their leading role in training and information within the HVAC/R sector. Their presence at the event facilitated the exchange of ideas with major industry stakeholders, promoting international collaborations.

Speech at the Symposium with ASERCOM and EPEE

During the ASERCOM & EPEE Symposium, one of the most anticipated moments of the Chillventa Congress on October 8, Marco Buoni, CEO of Centro Studi Galileo, Past President of AREA with a mandate for international affairs, and Secretary of ATF, addressed topics related to the new European regulations, with a particular focus on the F-Gas 3.0 Regulation. His presentation emphasized the importance of professional training to prepare technicians to face the challenges associated with alternative and natural refrigerants, highlighting the need to update skills to comply with new standards.

The symposium highlighted the challenges related to the transition to low-carbon technologies. Topics such as the implementation of environmental regulations, the development of alternative refrigerants, and the achievement of sustainability goals for 2050 were discussed. Buoni offered a valuable perspective on the role of continuous training in supporting the sector during this phase of change.

Booth Activities: Meetings and Interviews

The CSG and ATF booth, located in Hall 9 (Booth 9.239), as well as the AREA one situated nearby, attracted numerous refrigeration professionals, companies, and international partners. During the three days of the fair, the staff answered visitors’ questions, provided information about training courses, and discussed collaboration opportunities with key industry players.

The interviews provided an in-depth view of emerging trends, technological innovations, and future challenges in the HVAC/R sector, focusing on alternative refrigerants, sustainability, and energy efficiency.

Cocktail Reception with AREA, ASERCOM, EPEE and INWIC

Another highlight of the fair was the Cocktail Reception organized by AREA, ASERCOM, EPEE, and INWIC, held on October 9, 2024, at booth 9/220. The event brought together key players in the HVAC/R industry, including companies and associations, creating an important networking opportunity.

During the reception, a commemorative plaque was awarded to Zdenka Bukovinova, second place winner in the Women in Cooling Video Competition, organized by AREA and World Refrigeration Day. This recognition underscored the importance of female participation in the sector, highlighting the growing role of women in refrigeration.
The event also spotlighted the International Network for Women in Cooling (INWIC), an organization created by World Refrigeration Day (WRD) and UNEP OzonAction, with the support of founding partners such as AIRAH, AREA, ASHRAE, CAR, FAIAR, IIR, IOR, ISHRAE, JSRAE, U-3ARC, and Women in HVAC&R. INWIC is a well-established reality that promotes diversity and inclusion of women in the HVAC/R sector, supporting the creation of a global network of professionals.

AREA Forum and Centro Studi Galileo Final Forum

The AREA Forum, held on October 10, addressed the theme of training and certification in the RAC sector (Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, and Heat Pumps). Marco Buoni, as moderator, emphasized the crucial role of training on alternative refrigerants and the importance of certification for the implementation of the F-Gas regulation. The forum featured contributions from experts including:

  • Coen van de Sande (President of AREA) – AREA’s position on personnel certification in the context of F-Gas 3.0
  • Stepan Stojanov (Vice-President of AREA) – Implementation Act on Training in light of F-Gas 3.0
  • Thanos Biris (Treasurer of AREA) – Importance of training on alternative refrigerants for the success of F-Gas regulation
  • Deniss Lukashuks (Member of AREA) – Natural and flammable refrigerants in education: safe and environmentally friendly
  • Said El Harch (Secretary-General of U-3ARC) – Collaboration between Europe and Africa for sustainable refrigeration

After the AREA Forum, the Final Forum organized by Centro Studi Galileo took place, which examined the impact of the F-Gas 3.0 Regulation on future technologies and international certification for the use of alternative refrigerants. Two noteworthy presentations were given by Joachim Dallinger from Epta Deutschland and Gianluca Lillo from General Gas Kryon, assisted by Stefano Fedeli, who discussed the development of new technologies to reduce emissions and increase energy efficiency.ale per l’uso dei refrigeranti alternativi.
